Disciplines/Subjects: Mathematics, Statistics
Key Themes: Data Analysis, Personal Preferences, Statistical Reasoning
This project empowers learners to investigate relationships between gender and their peers' preferences through data collection and analysis. Learners select topics of personal interest, such as favorite colors, sports, or cosmic elements, and gather data using surveys or interviews. They create two-way frequency tables, calculate relative and conditional relative frequencies, and visualize their findings with charts. Through analysis, learners uncover trends and reflect on the significance of statistical reasoning in understanding relationships in real-world contexts.
Habits of mind: Curiosity, Growth Mindset, Choice Making and Responsibility
Transferable skills: Organizing & Representing Information, Identifying Patterns and Relationships, Interpreting Data/Information to Make Valid Claims
Content Knowledge:
Design and interpretation of two-way frequency tables
Calculation of relative and conditional relative frequencies
Use of statistical tools to visualize and analyze real-world data
